HPH was created in 2002, as a boutique firm, originally focusing our practice on helping clients navigate the word of International Trade and Customs, both in the Compliance area as well as in the litigation on these subjects.

Due to the necessity of our clients, we then incorporated the Corporate and Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) services, as a way to deliver a full solution to several start-up operations that in recent decade potentially increased, as well as to control de most representative areas that created the most common potential risks to clients already established in México.

Our practice extends to helping clients navigate virtually any law or regulation affecting since the very moment of planning of creation of a new Entity to the successful outsource of accounting and Customs activities that in México represents the main areas to take care due to the complexity of regulations.

Our partners

Roberto is an accomplished international trade lawyer and represents clients in virtually all areas of import-export laws and regulations, whether it be traditional customs issues with Mexican Customs and Tax Authorities (SAT) or related issues stemming from compliance with laws and regulations managed by other agencies. He focused on customs guidelines for the establishment of IMMEX (Maquila) operations and VAT Certification in Mexico and Law suits before Tribunal procedures.

He has 25 years of experience in the private sector and was a former Associate in one of the Big 4 firms. Roberto represents companies large and small in diverse industries, such as consumer products, agricultural/food products, automotive, textile and apparel, high tech, and others.

Roberto received his Law Degree from the Universidad de Monterrey in Nuevo León. He obtained his postgraduates studies on Free Trade Agreements at the Universidad Iberoamericana in México City.

Bedy Pérez is an international practice attorney specializing in customs, international trade and export control issues, mainly focused on IMMEX Companies. She is graduated of the Universidad Iberoamericana as a Lawyer, as a top 5 in her generation. Her Master Degree was obtained from the Universidad Panamericana in as a Tax Specialist, practice that supports her consulting on Customs.

Over the past 14 years, Bedy Pérez, has developed a particular expertise in the customs and international trade compliance issues affecting reconciliation of both, Inventories as well as Fixed Assets imported under temporarily basis.  These extensive projects are to be developed with the interaction of production, accounting, and customs areas and require representative skills for coordination of several persons, groups, activities, and Authorities.

Bedy Pérez has specialized in negotiation with authorities for reduction of duties, special permits and was the Lawyer in charge of the most representative dispute case of Origin between Colombia and Mexico Authorities on the textile and apparel industry of both countries.

 

Juan Carlos has written several articles in the customs and international trade area; and is also a frequent lecturer at various international trade conferences. He has two different professional careers, he got his Bachelor Degree on International Trade from the Universidad del Politécnico Nacional, and also received his Law Degree from the __, Juan Carlos maintains as a passion for continues education, having two different master degrees on International Trade and Financial areas.

Prior to joining HPH, Juan Carlos was an associate in a Big Four firm, leading the customs and international trade practice in their Latin American Business Center, focusing on automotive industry.

His experience includes deep knowledge in executing customs risk assessments; proactive identification of customs benefits through strategic duty planning via Free Trade Agreements and Special Customs regimes; track record in minimizing/eliminating customs contingencies by timely advising on the critical risk and success factors for customs processes; and regional experience on origin, classification, and valuation topics.

More specifically, Juan Carlos is well known for his extensive knowledge on consultation of Mexican regulations.
